From the Gorleben Resistance (translator's note: against radioactive waste disposal) of the Freie Republik Wendland to the first party program of the German Green Party: The vision of good life in the countryside made headlines once more in the 1980s. In the 1990s, ecovillages stepped up to the plate to renew this utopia. What experience did their inhabitants gain in the adventure lifestyle? Is it compatible? And to what extent can this succeed in contributing to the transformation towards sustainability? Based on the well known project »Sieben Linden«, Marcus Andreas submits the striving of an ecovillage for an up-to-date »positioning within the change« to vivid critical scrutiny.

Marcus Andreas wurde am Institut für Ethnologie der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München promoviert. Er ist Mitbegründer des Forschungsnetzwerks Research in Community e.V. und Affiliate am Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society. Er arbeitet in Berlin im Bereich kommunaler Klimaschutz.
