This book presents eras, trends, and the works of Hungarian literature from its beginnings to the 21st century. This 800-year literary history is marked by a unique linguistic heritage as well as regional and European historical, cultural, and intellectual currents. By couching the texts in their cultural and literary contexts, connections to German culture also become apparent.
