Masterarbeit aus dem Jahr 2011 im Fachbereich Verkehrswissenschaft, Note: Gut, Fachhochschule des bfi Wien GmbH, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: The airport industry is a very dynamic sector. During the last decades there was a change in airport business models. To run an airport economically successful it is essential to increase the earnings within the non aviation sector. Therefore airports all over the world constantly are getting urbanised. This work describes the evolution from Airport to Airport City. Airports are not just runways anymore. They provide local residents with a wide range of services and products. Airports and especially the one near Frankfurt tend to be a competitive opponent for shopping-centres and shopping-streets. The aim of this work is to offer the reader a solid overview about this challenging and huge topic. Additionally the empirical part of this work will investigate how big the ac-ceptance of local residents near the airport as a normal consuming location is.
