Until 1990, research on state historiography about the historical Middle German and East German territories was shaped by Germany’s post-war partitioning. Since reunification, Klaus Neitmann has contributed extensively to research on the development and work of state historical institutions and has published important studies about the field’s major figures, themes, and methodology, which are collected in this volume.
