Presented for the first time in a historical-critical edition, Passion Devotions is Rist's twelfth collection of hymns and the last of his sacred works to be published during his lifetime. It is the product of Rist's fruitful cooperation with the Wolfenbüttel Choirmaster Martin Coler, and an extraordinary lyrical example of the multiple facets of Baroque Lutheran passion theology and piety.
