Poetry of the Roman Republic has only been preserved in isolated fragments. At the same time, numerous complete epigrams have been preserved in inscriptions from this period, but they have been neglected by scholars. The present volume deals with these texts more comprehensively than any previous study. Leading specialists evaluate the material from the perspectives of philology, ancient history and archaeology.
